Edition Dog Live & Doggy Library

After two long years of delays due to the pandemic, a new holistic dog show has burst onto the scene and it did not disappoint! Having subscribed to Edition Dog for years I knew both myself and Stef were in for a treat with this show! Edition dog is packed full of thought provoking articles on how to provide a more natural and holistic life for your canine companion. Advice on training, nutrition, disease info and first aid there's something for everybody that's for sure.

Myself and Stef made the 2 hour journey down to Stoneleigh with Lily and Gladis, because this show was dog friendly! When we arrived we grabbed our VIP tickets and headed in to see what this eagerly awaited show had to offer. There were so many brands there that we love and Stef stocks!

We had an amazing day and can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Our next trip away will be to PATS Telford, to catch up on the latest products available to market from the manufactures already housed in store but also see if there are any new kids on the block that catch Stef’s eye!

September marks the beginning of autumn equinox (22nd of September), halfway between the Summer and Winter Solstice, a balance of light and darkness. Autumn makes me think of hedgerows bursting with berries ready to be foraged, crunchy leaves and curling up on the sofa with the dogs and a good book. September always plays host to ‘read a book day’ so I wanted to share some of my favourites in my doggy library.

Hard
Up first it has to be Feeding Dogs: The Science Behind the Dry Versus Raw Debate a font of knowledge and marking over 10 years work from Dr Conor Brady. For those really wanting to get into the nitty gritty science of raw this is the one for you. Despite the heavy topic Conor has managed to sprinkle in a fair amount of his Irish wit, making it a much more palatable read. I find this book a great resource for nutrition studies and a good one to keep coming back to. Although it’s a beast of a book it is an enjoyable read, if you are obsessed with nutrition as I am!

Intermediate
Coming in close second has to be The Forever Dog, a book that has globally stormed the market and climbed to best seller in numerous countries. This book is a wide overview of many different aspects of natural health for your dogs. This book is the passion project of Dr Karen Becker and Rodney Habib, two powerhouses of the raw world both incredibly knowledgeable and striving for our dogs to live their longest healthiest lives and what we need to achieve that. When this book was first released Stef hid copies around the Bingley store for customers to find and keep, a true accolade to the message this book brings to feed real food!

Easy
A smaller read but a great contender is Why You Need to Feed Your Dog a Raw Diet. A straightforward guide from Amy Marshall of Primal Raw and super easy read on the basics of why we need to be feeding real food for our dogs. If books aren’t really your thing this one is a great one to spark that curiosity.

So what books will you be settling down with this Autumn, as the nights grow darker what better excuse to stay home with the pooches. I’m a total bookworm, so I’m more than happy to get lost with my head in a book, even if 99.9% of what I read is something to do with dogs… I just can’t help myself!

I will be back in the Bingley store for Therapist Saturday on the 24th of September for all your joint health and raw questions, so pop in for a chat!

Continue to nourish your dogs with species appropriate nutrition, massage and compassion.
